Roald Dahl Day

We almost couldn't recognise our Year 2 children on Roald Dahl Day as they looked amazing dressed as characters from different Roald Dahl books.

Our work was focused around 'The BFG'. The children began by listening to the opening of the story where Sophie sees the giant and he takes her with him. We discussed what Sophie initially thought of the giant when she looked at him and what type of character he actually was. Then we explored how appearances can be deceiving and we shouldn't judge someone by how they look. The children designed their own characters and wrote a description about them. The children also thought about what the word 'dream' means. We talked about its two different meanings and the children wrote about what they aspire to be when they grow up and also a dream they have had.
